A few weeks ago we posted up about culture being omitted from national planning policy framework discussions and consultations by the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) regarding the Draft National Planning Policy Framework. The Theatres Trust had released a paper in response to inform and guide those who wish to contribute to the consultation which closes on 17 October 2011.
The Framework seeks to significantly reduce the number of pages of planning policy and guidance. This streamlined approach has meant that arts and culture are not referenced. Read the Arts Council England response to the CLG consultaion on draft national planning policy framework released today.
The Theatres Trust urges that ‘Without national recognition of the value of culture and the role it plays in creating vibrant and sustainable communities, theatres, art galleries, museums and libraries could be lost.’ Arts & Cultural organisations are encouraged to read and respond to the framework.
