Gothenburg for State of the Art 2013

Last week Sarah swapped her fashion forward stilettos for winter boots as she flew into Gothenburg, Sweden for Samtidskonstdagarna 2013 – State of the art.

This event was held to discuss the changing role and value of the contemporary art institution. Sarah led a workshop on Turning Assets into Income. Throughout the day attendees examined the dynamics between artistic practice, institution and society, and discussed contemporary art as an important free zone for experimentation, discursive and critical activities.

The programme from the event and Sarah’s presentation can be found here.

The event also marked the launch of a swedish translation of the publication Size Matters: Notes towards a Better Understanding of the Value, Operation and Potential of Small Visual Arts Organisations by Sarah Thelwall, commissioned by Common Practice, London with support from Arts Council England. Here is Sarah being interviewed on the occasion of the launch.
