This case study was delivered through a collaboration between MyCake, The Ubele Initiative, and Etic Lab.

The Challenge

Identifying Black and racially minoritised-led VCSE organisations reliably at a national scale is currently impossible due to a lack of regulatory data. This critical data gap prevents the sector from mapping the scale of underinvestment and systemic inequality needed to build a national strategy.

The Innovation

Adapted and rigorously verified a unified DEI metric - originally developed by Etic Lab for the US market - creating a single, light-touch definition metric that can be easily deployed across the UK VCSE sector for any organisation with a website.

The Impact

Deploying the metric at scale in collaboration with regional sector support organisations. Testing has begun with the Agbero 2100 cohort, utilising a new typology and baseline assessment to measure development levels and identify bespoke support or community businesses.
